Artist in Residence - 2020

We are pleased to announce that the 2020 Delnor-Wiggins Artist in Residence is Gloria Skrobacki.

She was born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan and grew up in the country with orchards, farmland and rolling hills all around. She knew at a very young age that she was going to be an artist. She attended Northwestern Michigan College and continued her studies in art through 1982. Afer she married Jerry Skrobacki, they moved to Florida and have been settled in Fort Myers for 26 years.

The inspiration for most of her artwork comes from her many years of living in Florida. Her paintings portray the pristine sandy beaches and colorful skies of the Gulf of Mexico, as well as the beautiful flowers, air plants and many of the native birds found in the everglades among the cypress trees. The underwater sea life in her paintings come from her many boating adventures, including family vacations to the Florida Keys.

When Gloria is in the midst of God?s beautiful works of creation, she in awe of His masterpiece. Experiencing the peacefulness of the beach and the tranquility of the cypress slough or looking eye to eye with the brilliantly colored tropical fish on the reef is the inspiration for her artwork. The experience is her pleasure and the artwork is her passion.
