Out Fishing
While visiting the park, you may see snowy egrets looking for breakfast, or lunch. These shorebirds have beautiful bright yellow feet and snowy white plumage.
Standing about 2 ft tall (adult), they are a common sight in the park, particularly in area 5 (north end). Here they stalk fishermen looking for a bait fish discard or perhaps a small throw-back catch. You may hear their low croak from the mangroves and suspect a frog, but that is probably egrets vocalizing.
n addition to egrets (a type of heron), you can spot sanderlings, willets, terns, plovers, black skimmers, and perhaps a marbled godwit at the park.
On your next visit, bring your binoculars and challenge your identification skills. Enjoy!
